Ischia e Procida

Ischia, with its six municipalities, is by far the largest of the islands in the Gulf; once connected to the mainland, it actually has morphological and volcanic features similar to those of the adjacent Campi Flegrei.

Called the “Green Island” for its abundant vegetation, favored by the fertility of the soil and the always mild climate, Ischia is dominated by Mount Epomeo, an extinct volcano, and dotted with numerous minor craters, active in prehistoric times. Traces of the ancient volcanic origin remain today in the numerous thermal springs and fumaroles, found near the coasts and on the seabed. It is precisely the strong thermal presence, together with its seaside vocation, that has fostered its strong tourist development, making it a kind of wellness capital of the Mediterranean.

Procida, pearl of the Gulf of Naples, is the Italian Capital of Culture 2022. For the first time it is an island to win the coveted nomination. Merit for a poetic and structured cultural project, but also for its timeless charm. Looking forward to its starring year, let’s discover together the wonders of Procida-where it is located, what to see and what to do-in this itinerary from Terra Murata to Corricella.
